Sustainability
The topic of sustainability has become more and more of a focus in recent years. Many companies are trying to make their production and products more sustainable. This is done, for example, by replacing materials, including polystyrene flakes with starch-based flakes.
Sustainability is less often found in the improved service life of a product.
thermo-control Körtvélyessy GmbH has been focusing on sustainable product properties since the company was founded. These include:
Long service life
Long service life is the best indicator of a sustainable product. The reason for this is simple. Products with a long service life do not need to be replaced as often. In addition to the product itself, there are factors such as personnel costs, consumables and possibly costs for system downtime.
Our philosophy is that the product should not become the issue, but should do its job reliably. This gives you more time for other activities.
Repairability
The thermocouples and oxygen probes from thermo-control Körtvélyessy GmbH can usually always be repaired. The evaluation depends on the respective component, which represents the greatest cost driver.
In the case of the thermocouple, it is the condition of the thermowire. As long as this is undamaged, all other parts can be replaced. In the worst case, the thermowire can be converted into a new blank.
By using separate protective tubes, these can be replaced individually.
For oxygen probes, it is the solid-state electrolyte, i.e. the tube made of fully stabilized zirconium dioxide. This is only rarely damaged to the point where replacement is necessary.
Recycling
Reusing parts helps reduce resources. The development of individual parts is optimized for frequent reuse.
Individual parts
Many individual parts can be reused without much effort. These include connectors or various accessories. Reusing process connections is a little more complex so that a proper connection can be made.
Precious metals
Platinum and rhodium are recycled from type S, R and B thermocouple wires. New thermocouple wire is made from the recovered amount. Unfortunately, due to the processes, a loss of ~10% has to be accepted.
