Sustainability – Our Commitment at thermo-control

Our Commitment to Sustainability at thermo-control Körtvélyessy GmbH. Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing and Durable Products.

The issue of sustainability has come increasingly into focus in recent years. Many companies are trying to make their production processes and products more sustainable. This is being done, for example, by replacing certain materials—including polystyrene flakes—with starch-based flakes.

Sustainability is less commonly found in a product's extended service life.

From the very beginning, thermo-control Körtvélyessy GmbH has focused on sustainable product features. These include:

Long service life

A long service life is the best indicator of a sustainable product. The reason for this is simple: products with a long service life do not need to be replaced as often. In addition to the product itself, factors such as labor costs, consumables, and possibly even costs associated with equipment downtime must also be taken into account.

Our philosophy is that the product shouldn't be the focus—it should simply do its job reliably. This gives you more time for other activities.

Repairability

The thermocouples and oxygen probes manufactured by thermo-control Körtvélyessy GmbH can generally always be repaired. The assessment depends on the specific component, which is the biggest cost driver.

In the case of the Thermocouple, this refers to the condition of the thermal wire. As long as it is undamaged, all other parts can be replaced. In the worst-case scenario, the thermal wire can be transferred to a new blank.

By using separate protective tubes, they can be replaced individually.

For Oxygen probes, it is the solid-state electrolyte—that is, the tube made of fully stabilized zirconia. It is extremely rare for this to become damaged to the point where replacement is necessary.

Recycling

Reusing parts helps conserve resources. The design of individual parts is optimized for frequent reuse.

Individual parts

Many individual parts can be reused with little effort. These include connectors and various accessories. Reusing process connections is a bit more involved to ensure a proper connection can be established.

Precious Metals

Platinum and rhodium are recycled from Type S, R, and B thermowires. The recovered material is used to manufacture new thermowires. Unfortunately, due to the processes involved, a loss of approximately 10% must be accepted.

Statement on Climate Change

Our company is committed to the responsible use of resources and sustainable business practices. In light of the addition of climate change considerations to ISO 9001:2015, we have analyzed our business processes to assess the relevance of this issue to our operations.

Given the size and structure of our company, our energy consumption is minimal, as we do not use large machines or energy-intensive processes. Our carbon footprint is therefore relatively small. Nevertheless, we recognize the importance of being mindful of the environment.

We are convinced that these measures make a lasting contribution to environmental sustainability by enabling us to fulfill our responsibility through resource-efficient and sustainable practices.

Our commitment focuses on areas where we can have a direct impact to promote sustainable business practices to the best of our ability.
